Google revealed on July 26, 2021, about three weeks back, that it has begun rolling out the link spam fix. It further mentioned that this process would require a total of two weeks.

Google’s initial notice on the update’s release stated that they were introducing a new link spam-fighting feature. This feature was called the “link spam update.”

This algorithmic improvement was supposed to be rolled out over the succeeding two weeks. Moreover, it would have been all the more successful at detecting and eliminating link spamming across many languages.

It began on Tuesday, August 17, and peaked on Wednesday, August 18. Also, it is not very clear whether this is connected to the link spam upgrade or not. It could also be linked to the top stories glitch, which caused a decrease in clicks (CTR)

On the other hand, it could be about the header versus title tag modification (although we doubt it is that).

Perhaps this is simply another one of those unverified Google updates? No one is sure, but we see a lot of talk and signs of an upgrade.

What Other Experts Had To Say About The Update?

On Tuesday, SEOs on WebmasterWorld began enquiring about the variations, and most people became aware of them. Here is what a few people had to say:

In the UK, there is still a lot of action, yet the detectors aren’t showing much? Is there anyone else?

I experienced a massive spike in traffic from the United Kingdom, all from Google searches or direct traffic. So far today, my UK traffic has increased by 869 percent. Is this something that anyone else is seeing?

Google and Link Spam

The SemRush sensor is spiking again, which corresponds to another drop in sales. Is this the new normal now?

Every other day, do you update your SERPs? No wonder some countries will see traffic loss!

The amount of Google refreshes at present is really ridiculous. Either something is not quite right/isn’t operating as expected, or the algorithms are being totally rewritten.

Reduce the previous week’s closure during the weekend. Yesterday’s ascent was sluggish, and today’s ascent is even slower.

What To Expect From This Update?

Since the last 3-4 hours, there has been a massive increase in traffic and CTR, particularly in the IT sector. However, traffic and other issues plagued the whole previous week. That is some of the talk going on, and it makes you question where it is coming from.

People are wondering if it is the Google link spam change. They want to know if the top stories glitch is creating a decline in clicks (CTR). They are confused and thinking if the header vs title tag tweak is to blame.

As a result, the whole rollout could take even longer, just like Google had predicted, a whole of four weeks.

It is difficult to tell whether the unsubstantiated upgrades we’ve been getting for the previous week are true or not. In fact, we are experiencing numerous initial symptoms of yet another upgrade. This one could be tied to the conclusion of the link spam update or something else entirely.
