Google Search Terms Report Gains 6.5x More Data: Explained

Google has made the latest announcement regarding the Search Terms Report in the second week of September. Earlier also, in September 2020, they released new upgrades in the Google Search Terms Report. According to Google, there has been an increase of an average of 6.5 times the query data and the search results that Google shows on Google Ads.

Last year’s announcement is entirely different as Google earlier announced that they would hide the query data citing privacy concerns. Now they have announced that query data will be increased by 6.5 times.

Google said they would show people more queries that do not cross privacy standards in the Google Search Terms Report. Everything is related to search and dynamic search ads campaigns. Earlier, this change was to come a month back when Google announced that it would not hide the search term data.

This change would not be under the list for activities before February 2021 according to Google. Thus, the search term data will be visible to the advertisers in their reports only for the queries they have received after 1 February 2021.

This update is handy for the advertisers and marketers as it will help them find more relevant keywords and themes, making the ad copies more organized, thus targeting more audiences. Moreover, the new metrics will now be more flexible with the existing metrics of Google Ads.

Google Search Terms Report Query Data and Privacy

However, there is a slight trick in this update by Google. Google, from now on, will not wait for your response and, on its own, will be removing those queries which do not meet Google’s privacy requirements.

In the announcement made by Google, they cleared that they will be consistent with their commitment to users’ privacy. They are continuously working on their privacy threshold to make for a smooth user experience.

Google also said they would be releasing more updates across various Google platforms in the coming few months. It will all be related to managing the historical Data. Historical Data means data of users before the updates that will be on release in the coming months.

In the Search Terms Report, Google said that all the query data before 1 September 2020 will be historical Data. Moreover, all the data that does not meet the privacy requirement of Google Ads before 1 February 2021 will also be historical data for Google. 

Thus, Google has given a reminder to all the advertisers and marketers to download. An extra measure takes a backup of the query data in an external drive before the Data is no more. However, because of the updates and upgrades made by Google, the query data after 1 September 2020 is more than the Data it was before the said date.

Some were positive, and some were negative. However, the updates were not trolled as if people had accepted the change and preferred going out with the flow.
